There is a trend sweeping our cities to cover over the vibrant colours on our shops and cafes and turn everything dark grey or black. My area has a distinct palette of strong colours in which many buildings are plastered and washed, much needed for winter months and as a foil to the dark local building material.
Instead I see countless new shops and refits all turning this drab colour, all conforming – and we don’t; do that round my way!
Keep diverse and colourful and dark neutral shades as undercoats and contrasts, but otherwise, keep the hue for the hefalump and not on our buildings.
